Travelling the world – I’m in India

On Holiday [India]Hello!  It’s been a while since I last checked in so I wanted to quickly pop in to update you all.  In fact, it’s been a while since I got some time to myself at all.  It’s been a busy few weeks as I finished up at work whilst doing a huge spring clean of my house.  I also had to make time to as prepare for a long trip abroad.  If you follow my Instagram, you may already know this…  However, for those that don’t, I am currently writing to you from India.

I am really excited about this trip because it’s far longer than my usual travels.  Instead of briefly visiting a country for a long weekend break or a week or two, I have the opportunity to stay in India for 75 days.  Yes, 75 whole days…  Aka two and a half months.  During this time, I will be volunteering at a charity I used to fundraise for and donate to (which is really exciting as I get to see where the money has gone and see firsthand what the charity does) and I’ll also be able to spend time with my relatives that live over here.  I’ve just spent a few days at the charity and have been introduced to a few of the projects they do.  They do amazing work – I may have to share some of it with you after I’ve gotten to experience it more.  This is something that I have not had the chance to do before so I’m really excited to have such an opportunity.  There’s no doubt that this will be a busy holiday for me, rather than a relaxing one but that’s how you truly discover a country and feel satisfied right?  Plus I prefer it this way as I get bored easily if there’s nothing to do.  Of course, I will try to stay on top of the blogging too.  I have tons of amazing things to share with you, including some product reviews, new card designs and a travel related collaboration that’s coming up soon.  I am hoping to stumble across a few stationery stores whilst I’m in India and find some treasures to add to my collection too.  The biggest hindrance to my blog activity, however, will be access to the Internet, as I’m pretty dependent on that!

The internet is iffy here, to say the least, which has prevented me from posting sooner than now…  Furthermore, I have been travelling around to different houses or cities as I visit different people in the area, which has definitely not helped with internet access.  Being out and about has meant my blog has, unfortunately, had to take a little bit of a backseat during this time.  This should settle down over the next few days, giving me a little bit of a structure to plan my weeks in advance…  Hopefully.  That’s the plan, at least!

So I just wanted to quickly check in to update you all about the irregular activity recently and warn you that I might not be able to get a post up weekly, as I usually aim to do.  Let’s see how this works out…

For now, this is Reema over and out.  See you soon!

Why do I volunteer

I recently shared a post on why people volunteer.  Before you read this, I highly recommend checking that out.  I spoke about the many reasons people volunteer, myself included.  However, I did not go into depth on the reason why I personally started volunteering then, so I thought I would take the opportunity now to talk about this now..

Business Series: Pau and Ari Designs

logoI’m really excited to kick off this Business Series with one of my favourite stores for beautiful stickers and that’s Pau and Ari Designs.  If you’re into stickers or decorating your planner then this one is definitely for you.  I especially love that the products are unique, handmade creations that help to support a small business!  I’m honoured to be a part of the PR team, sharing the amazing goodies they create over on my Instagram account.  The store is named after two awesome ladies – Pau & Ari, of course.  Pau (or Paula) runs the Etsy store – doing everything from admin to designing to packaging the items – whilst Ari helps out by designing some of the stickers.  The store is based in Spain but her postage is very reasonable (it’s cheaper than some local stores!) so I’m forevering spending money over there.

Today, Pau is sharing a little about her etsy store and how it came around.  There’s even a discount code – and I’ve decided to hold a giveaway too – at the end so be sure to check that out!Read More »

Giveaway: Pau and Ari Designs

I wanted to share some items from a shop that I massively love, called Pau and Ari designs.  I’m very lucky that I am on their PR team and have been able to share their beautiful stickers over on my Instagram account. They make gorgeous stickers for planners and I am a huge fan!  I purchased an extra set of one of my favourite kits – the Pocahontas kit – and a few other sheets by them that I wanted to giveaway to one winner…

Why do we volunteer?

I’m Reema – a young person who fell in love with volunteering and the charity sector.  I’ve been volunteering for as long as I can remember, and yet I still wish I had started sooner!  There is so much to learn from volunteering and so much to experience that you can never get bored of it.  At one point, I was volunteering for over 7 charities at one time – giving my time and talents to them whenever and wherever I could.  Inspired by the 2012 London Olympics, I think volunteering has really grown across the country and it’s great to see other people passionately doing what I love doing.  And why wouldn’t you?

EU Referendum and the Brexit vote

screenshot_2016-06-24-23-45-58-1.pngI don’t often talk about my personal views here – especially not politics – but today I cannot write about anything else.  I cannot even begin to think about anything else.  Those of you who aren’t living under a rock will know that UK made a very important decision yesterday and the result of that decision will affect the country for the foreseeable future.  We don’t know what the effect of that will be – whether it will be good or bad in the long run.  All we know for now is that the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland voted to “Brexit” yesterday – aka leave the European Union (EU).  Now I don’t know how much longer I will be able to call this country the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as some of the countries that form this are considering a split already, so I wanted to do so whilst I had the chance.  We may not be the united for much longer…  Or rather, perhaps we are divided already?

I didn’t expect this result – I always kind of assumed we would stay in eventually.  I’m just as shocked as everyone else that we’re leaving the EU and that reality is slowly starting to sink in.  It’s as bad – if not even worse – than people predicted and I understand the anger.  But we’ve had over 24 hours now.  As a country, I think we’ve wallowed in self pity in this time…  Now it’s time to get up, brush off the dust and shake hands.  It’s time to stand together, stand united.

I’m very excited today!  My planner addiction is something that everyone who knows me knows about…  It’s never been good for my bank balance or for the storage space in my room but today, that addiction is coming into a lot of use.  I’ve decided to revisit some aspects of my life to redefine them, make them better and quite specifically, make them more organised.  This organisation is the first stage to bettering myself in these ways and I have decided to share my journey with you, in the hopes that something will be useful to you and might help you to organise any aspects of your life that you wish to organise!  So let’s get started, let’s get organised!

Erin Condren Life Planner 2017

EC Life Planner 2017 - 4In honour of the Erin Condren launch of the new 2017 life planners, I have dedicated two posts to it (yes, TWO posts in ONE day?! Say whaaaat? I know, very unusual for me… but it was just way too long for one post).  You can find part one over here.  If you are new to EC life planners, I would recommend you pop over to part one as that will give you a good overview of what the life planner is and some photos of the inside.

Here, I am going to talk more about the new features and what I love (or don’t love) about them!  So I am assuming you’ve read the first post or already know about Erin Condren life planners…Read More »

Erin Condren Life Planner 2016

Erin Condren LifePlanner 2016This week something happened that most of the planner community will have heard about: the Erin Condren launch!  EC launched their 2017 life planners and the internet pretty much crashed…  Yeah that’s right, their launch crashed the internet.  Seriously.

My Facebook feed was full of talk about it.  Planner groups on Facebook would have tons of daily posts about it (they are still happening!).

So, I think it’s only fair that I dedicate this week’s post to Erin Condren and the beautiful community they have helped to build.  Now I couldn’t get all of this to fit in one post, as it would be too long to encompass all of this amazing into one… so I’m splitting it into two parts. Today is part one of the two part series.  This will be a quick flip through my 2016 EC life planner and initial thoughts from it…

I also have a discount for you later in the post so stayed tuned!Read More »
